The Difference

We believe that the orthodox Christian tradition is itself a therapy for the “cure of souls”. We bring the entire wealth of 2000 years of Soul Care in the Church to bear in the ministry of inner healing. This is not a program grounded in psychological methods but in a religious path that invites Christ into our hearts to help us overcome the past and transform us. This path includes:

  • Spiritual Direction, Pastoral Counseling and the Sacrament of Confession (Penance).
  • Participation in community, daily Communion and worship, and personal prayer
  • Participation in weekly Bible Study classes and Christian 12 step recovery groups
  • Regular psychiatric care and Counseling through referral as deemed necessary.
  • Maintenance of drug/addiction free behavior.
  • Personal freedom to access the local community affording opportunities for responsible recreation and employment.
  • Coaching to help assess their situation, recognize warning signs, and encounter their anxiety and fear in healthy ways.

We don’t set arbitrary time limits for the length of stay but instead graduate people after the core of their addictive behavior is healed and they have shown the ability to self- asses and make healthy choices under real world conditions. We look at their ability to hold full-time employment or their ability to return to school successfully.

We don’t give up on people quickly as long as they show honest and real effort in continuing towards healing and recovery so we don’t automatically eject persons for an occasional ”mess up”. We evaluate people on a case by case basis.
